Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout

Summary:

One Kiss could be the last.

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she’s anything but normal. Half-demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens – a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe – Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she’s crushed on since forever.

The she meets Roth – a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she’s not sure she wants to – especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn’t an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she’s the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

Review:

White Hot Kiss was a great easy read that I couldn't put down! After I had finished Bitter Sweet Love I wanted to read more about the world that Jennifer L. Armentrout had created.

When we first met Layla I had so much sympathy for her. She's half warden and half demon. Her curse... She cannot kiss anyone without stealing their soul and killing them. I don't know what I would do it I would be denied the option of kissing someone I loved. To through your life without being able to show someone how you feel. Because she is half and half she can't do much to help the wardens, but tag the demons that she comes across. She's not able to shift and she feels disconnected from her 'family'. For a while she began feeling like something was being kept from her. She felt even more like an outcast. Everything begins to change when she is out tagging and she meets the deliciously yummy demon, Roth.

Roth is out to protect Layla even though she tries to avoid him. She has forever tried to cast her demon side away like it didn't exist. Roth tries to show her that maybe it's not bad. He starts showing up at random times and he's always there to protect her. The best part about Roth? He's a demon... He has no soul... Layla get the kiss she has been dying for.

The two begin on a journey together to stop the worst from happening, but the wardens fear for her. They believe that Roth wants to do harm and not good. Inevitably, it comes down to whether or not demons and wardens can work together or will their animosity for each other be their undoing?

This was such an easy read. You should definitely read the first novella in the series before reading this one. I can't wait for the next book in the series, Stone Cold Touch to come out!
