Review: Stay with Me by J. Lynn

Stay With Me
Author: J. Lynn
Published: September 23rd, 2014

Summary:

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Wait for You and Be with Me comes a daring tale that pushes boundaries . . .

At 21, Calla hasn't done a lot of things. She’s never been kissed, never seen the ocean, never gone to an amusement park. But growing up, she witnessed some things no child ever should.   She still carries the physical and emotional scars of living with a strung-out mother, Mona—secrets she keeps from everyone, including her close circle of college friends.

But the safe cocoon Calla has carefully built is shattered when she discovers her mom has stolen her college money and run up a huge credit card debt in her name. Now, Calla has to go back to the small town she thought she’d left behind and clean up her mom’s mess again. Of course, when she arrives at her mother’s bar, Mona is nowhere to be found. Instead, six feet of hotness named Jackson James is pouring drinks and keeping the place humming.

Sexy and intense, Jax is in Calla's business from the moment they meet, giving her a job and helping her search for Mona. And the way he looks at her makes it clear he wants to get horizontal... and maybe something more. Before Calla can let him get close, though, she's got to deal with the pain of the past -- and some very bad guys out to mess her up if she doesn't give them her mom.

Review:

I have read all of Jennifer’s books and I’m never disappointed. I never turn down her books. As soon as Stay with Me was available to pre-order, I did it. When I started Stay with Me, I knew I was going to be in for a ride. Cam is still my favorite character that she has created and unless something changes, I think he will always be my number one book boyfriend. When she introduced Jax I almost gave up on Cam. Calla and Jax’s story is one of my favorites. She proved in this story that not everyone is perfect in looks and that they aren’t everything.

Calla’s back story is started in Be With Me. She is a friend of Tessa’s. She lies to her friends because she is ashamed of her past and family. How she got the scar on her face isn’t told to us until Stay with me. She is a quiet girl that admires from afar. She doesn’t try to draw attention to herself. After realizing that her mother has destroyed everything that she has built up, she has to return to the one place she never wanted too… Home. When she returns, she finds a hot guy that she has never seen before.

Jackson, or Jax is taking care of business in Calla’s old town and is immediately all up in Calla’s business. She doesn’t know why or if she wants him to be. She has drilled in her head that no one would want her because of her marred face. She hides herself because of it. Jax goes about his business and makes it his business to help Calla in everything that she needs to do. He gives her a job when he knows she needs it. He hides things that he knows will her hurt her, but he makes it his job to know that he is there for her. Jax is smooth, sexy, heartwarming and sarcastic. He knows what he wants and goes for it. He’s protective and that just makes him even sexier in my opinion.

Calla is on a mission to fix things in her past and her future. Jax is there to help and she needs to learn to let him in. I thought this was a great story about how appearances don’t mean everything. It proved that just because your face may be marred or if you have demons in your past, doesn’t mean you aren’t amazing on the inside. I loved this book and Jax came very close to taking about Cam’s #1 book boyfriend status. Take a gander and you’ll love this book as much as I did. You won’t want to put it down.
