FIRST & FOREVER Excerpt:

We walked off into the darkness, and I held her hand firmly in my own. I’d never been a big hand holder, but it’s like I needed to have hers in mine. I needed to touch her constantly, and I wanted her to know she was always safe with me—even if I was far from safe to most anyone else.

She tugged on my hand, and I gladly followed her down closer to the water.

She took in another deep breath. “There is nothing like the beach at night.”

“You like it at night, too? I was worried you wouldn’t like it without the sun.” I wondered if I was unique in craving the quiet shadows of the dark beach.

“I like the beach during the day, but I love it at night. There is just something about listening to the waves in the darkness and the soft glow of the stars reflecting off the water.”
“Yeah. It’s nice.” I moved behind her, and she leaned into me. We stood that way for several minutes before I turned her to look at me.

She looked like a dream standing there in the glimmering of the moonlight. I studied her face, looking for a sign that she was something more than the beautiful human that had attracted me from the moment we met. Every part of me knew how significant she was to me, but I wanted more proof. “You’re so beautiful. So unbelievably beautiful…” I trailed off as my lips gave in to what they had wanted to do all day.

SYNOPSIS:

Cursed, numb, rejected, scorned, wicked, sinister, dark, twisted...my name is Tex Campisi and this is my legacy. I killed my father in cold blood and lost my soul right along with him. I crave war more than peace, and I'm about to take my place in history as the youngest Capo dei Capi in the Cosa Nostra...that is until someone stops me, saves me from myself.

But the only person able to do that...is my best friends sister, Mo Abandanato, and she just ripped my heart out and asked me to hold it in my hands while she put bullets through it.

I’m cursed so I did it.
I'm numb so I held it.
I'm wicked so I liked it.
I used the pain Mo caused as a catalyst to turn into my biggest nightmare--the five families greatest enemy. It's my turn to take a stand, knowing full well I'm going to lose my mind to the madness that is the American Mafia. I've always been told Blood is thicker than life. I wish I would have listened.
Because regardless of who you love? You will betray. You will kill.
Blood Always Wins. The only way out is death...yours.

Welcome to the Dark Side of the Family

Excerpt:

"Eight minutes where I'd rather time didn't exist." I whispered watching pain roll across his face in a wave. "Kiss me again."
With a soft exhale, he brushed his lips across mine, little feathery strokes that tempted me with promises of something more. He used his tongue to trace the outline of my lips before sliding inside, past my teeth, tasting every inch of me, giving me every inch he could of himself. Living in the moment, both of us knowing that it would soon be over.
"Seven." I whispered against his mouth.
"Go to school," he urged for a second time. "Make mistakes, Mo. Get in trouble, let Nixon find you sneaking wine into your backpack. Get sent to the Dean's office, make mistakes," he said again then licked his lips. "Let someone pick up the pieces of your broken heart, let someone fix what I destroyed."
"What if I want to drop out and hermit myself in my room?" I refused to look at him.
"That's not living, Mo." Tex cupped my face. "I have five minutes left with you, do you want me to use it to kiss you or lecture you on why I'm right?"
I grinned as a tear slid down my cheek. "Both."
His smile matched mine. "I forget how much you like being scolded."
"Only if the one scolding has a firm hand."
"Every last inch of me is firm and you know it." Tex tugged me into his lap. "School will distract you, it will give you a better future then guns and war, it will take your focus from tragedy to the future. Please, for me, Mo, please try to do normal."
"Normal." I shook my head. "Not sure I know what that word is."
"Normal," Tex repeated. "Making love to someone under a tree not because you have to say goodbye, but because it's the best way you can think to say hello."
 My lower lip quivered.
"Normal." His voice was hoarse. "Marrying the love of your life not because her brother shoots you at point blank range--but because not marrying her would be a fate worse than death."
He was silent then added, "Three minutes."
I clenched his shirt with my hands and fought the urge to sob against his chest. "Normal." Tex's voice was barely audible. "Going from country to country, traveling all over the world, not because you have a hit on you, but because you want to see the girl you love smile in every country God ever created."
I knew the time was ticking by, it seemed the less time we had the faster it went, I guess that's life.
I was looking at two more minutes, maybe less, with my lover, my friend, and all I could do was clench his shirt in my hands and twist, somehow willing him to stay on the ground rather than get up and walk towards certain death.
"Normal." Tex moved to his feet, helping me up. "Giving the woman you love two hours of your time, because you can't imagine spending your minutes, those precious seconds, any other way." Tex kissed my mouth hard, nearly bruising my lips before stepping back and kissing my nose.
"Time's up," he said gruffly.
"We're no longer friends." I said it as a statement, not even a question.
"For two hours I was your lover, your friend, your everything." Tex looked away. "For the rest of eternity -- I'm now your enemy."

Review: Indiscretion volume 1 and 2 by Elisabeth Grace

Indiscretion Volume 1 and 2
Author: Elisabeth Grace
Release Date: August 4th, 2014

I received this book for an honest review. Thank you InkSlinger PR.

Summary:

F*ck and chuck. Pump and dump. Hit it and quit it. One night stand. Didn’t matter how I branded it—that’s all she had wanted it to be. That much was clear when she left me with my pants down and my dick still out.

What she hadn’t counted on was fate intervening and our worlds colliding—again.

The day I showed back up in the life of Chloe Griffins, I knew I had to have her again. My body was hungry for another taste. Like an addict, I’d been craving another hit for months, and there she was—flesh and bone, tits and ass.

The fact that she worked for the competition should’ve been reason enough for me to leave her alone. I had a job to do that summer and f*cking Chloe wasn’t part of it. But I was like a man possessed.

I’d do whatever it took to have her again.

Review:

I was given the opportunity to read the first two volumes of indiscretion. I was really surprised when I opened the Ebooks and each volume was less than 100 pages. It was a nice change having a short book to read. Seeing how they were so short I feel like these are more novellas than books. Unless, you read both volumes together and in one sitting.

I really liked the beginning of volume one. With most books that have this type of plot, you know that even though they had a one night stand they would see each other again.

I really liked Max's personality. He was sweet and even though it seemed like he was doing a lot to please himself, he was doing it for Chloe too. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. When we first met him I couldn't help be be drawn to felt like a take charge type of guy. Chloe is driven and passionate about her job. From what we can tell from the little we got about her background it seems like she has had a hard life. It wasn't all rainbows. After being hurt, she has put up walls and Max seems to slowly break them down.

I liked volume 1. It showed more of them and who they were as people. Volume 2 was good but I felt like I was constantly reading about sex. I'm all for sex in a relationship and I know what their relationship was supposed to be like, but seriously? It felt a little overboard.

Chloe is all about her career and making herself better and when she is given an ultimatum you can't help but feel sorry for her. However, little twists are added in and you can't help but wonder how it's going to play out.

Overall, I think the beginning of this series it's a must read. The volumes are short and sweet and you won't be disappointed. I cannot wait for the next volumes to be available to read so I can see with this dynamic couple.

Review: Wished Away by S.P. Cervantes

Wished Away
Author: S. P. Cervantes
Release Date: August 5th, 2014

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Wordsmith Publicity.

Summary:

Imagine that you were married to the love of your life and had a happy family. Now imagine everything was destroyed in an instant, making you question who you are and how you can possibly go on once the one person you truly love is gone.

It is a rare thing to find your soul mate, but Jess found true love in Dave when they were only teenagers. They’ve built a happy life together in a small shore town, becoming pillars of the community and making everyone around them envious of the perfect life they have built together. Their love is something that seems like it can only exist in a fairy tale. But what happens when the fairy tale is broken?

Jess has always been the life of the party, and Dave was always there to reel her in and keep her safe. But one night, while on duty as the town Sheriff, the unimaginable happens, altering the directions of their lives forever.

Jess is now forced to dig deep in her soul and find herself again. When love tries to chip away at her frozen over heart, she struggles to fight the guilt of moving on while keeping the memory of her perfect love alive.

This is a story about finding love, having it all taken away, and discovering that moving on doesn’t mean forgetting the past.

Review:

I’m absolutely speechless. I loved this book. It made me laugh and it made me cry. It made me cry more times than I liked to admit. It was such a beautifully written story and I’m glad that I was given the opportunity to read it. I have not had the chance to read the first book in this series, Dust to Dust, but this book can be read as a standalone.

This story is about Jess and Dave and how their fairy tale plays out. The two of them have the perfect fairy tale life. Everything is perfect. You couldn’t take anything away from either of them. Its not often people find their soul mate, but when they do you know its forever. However, in just moments that beautiful fairy tale ending is taken away. Everything is ripped to shreds. Jess is left to pick up the pieces of her life without her soul mate.

Jess was always the life of the party. You could help being happy around her. When the ground is broken in front of her, she doesn’t know how she is going to pick up the pieces. She knows she has to hold her together for the people around her. She goes through so many emotions. She faces grief, sadness, and pain. As she continues going through the motions of each day, she finds someone that just might be able to pick up those shattered pieces. She slowly starts rebuilding her heart. She starts to see the 'rainbows and butterflies' again. She starts to realize that the world may crumble around you, but it can be rebuilt.

Gage, who has had his heart ripped out because of an unfortunate event knows what Jess is going through. When there world collided that faithful night that Dave was ripped away from her, he truly knew how she was feeling. He starts to hang out with Jess and her friends and slowly starts to bring the light back into Jess's eyes. He slowly starts to show Jess that there is a chance at happiness even though that black cloud has settled over her head. He doesn't let Jess push him away. He keeps showing her that you can achieve happiness even when you never thought you could again.

With this story, you have to truly read it for yourself. Its not meant to be ‘read’ through a review. This book put me through so many emotions and I had to put it down a few times to regroup myself. There is so much passion in this writing that you can instantly be drawn into the book and you will not want to back away. Great job at sucking me in, S.P. Cervantes!

EXCERPT:

Katy

I still stared at Daemon, completely aware that everyone else except him was watching me. Closely. But why wouldn’t he look at me? A razor-sharp panic clawed at my insides. No. This couldn’t be happening. No way. My body was moving before I even knew what I was doing.

From the corner of my eye, I saw Dee shake her head and one of the Luxen males step forward, but I was propelled by an inherent need to prove that my worst fears were not coming true.

After all, he’d healed me, but then I thought of what Dee had said, of how Dee had behaved with me. What if Daemon was like her? Turned into something so foreign and cold? He would’ve healed me just to make sure he was okay.

I still didn’t stop. Please, I thought over and over again. Please. Please. Please. On shaky legs, I crossed the long room, and even though Daemon hadn’t seemed to even acknowledge my existence, I walked right up to him, my hands trembling as I placed them on his chest.

 “Daemon?” I whispered, voice thick.

His head whipped around, and he was suddenly staring down at me. Our gazes collided once more, and for a second I saw something so raw, so painful in those beautiful eyes. And then his large hands wrapped around my upper arms. The contact seared through the shirt I wore, branding my skin, and I thought—I expected—that he would pull me against him, that he would embrace me, and even though nothing would be all right, it would be better.

Daemon’s hands spasmed around my arms, and I sucked in an unsteady breath.

His eyes flashed an intense green as he physically lifted me away from him, setting me back down a good foot back.

I stared at him, something deep in my chest cracking. “Daemon?”

He said nothing as he let go, one finger at a time, it seemed, and his hands slid off my arms. He stepped back, returning his attention to the man behind the desk.

“So . . . awkward,” murmured the redhead, smirking.

I was rooted to the spot in which I stood, the sting of rejection burning through my skin, shredding my insides like I was nothing more than papier-mâché.

“I think someone was expecting more of a reunion,” the Luxen male behind the desk said, his voice ringing with amusement. “What do you think, Daemon?”

One shoulder rose in a negligent shrug. “I don’t think anything.”

My mouth opened, but there were no words. His voice, his tone, wasn’t like his sister’s, but like it had been when we first met. He used to speak to me with barely leashed annoyance, where a thin veil of tolerance dripped from every word. The rift in my chest deepened. For the hundredth time since the Luxen arrived, Sergeant Dasher’s warning came back to me. What side would Daemon and his family stand on? A shudder worked its way down my spine. I wrapped my arms around myself, unable to truly process what had just happened.

“And you?” the man asked. When no one answered, he tried again. “Katy?”

I was forced to look at him, and I wanted to shrink back from his stare. “What?” I was beyond caring that my voice broke on that one word.

The man smiled as he walked around the desk. My gaze flickered over to Daemon as he shifted, drawing the attention of the beautiful redhead. “Were you expecting a more personal greeting?” he asked. “Perhaps something more intimate?”

I had no idea how to answer. I felt like I’d fallen into the rabbit hole, and warnings were firing off left and right. Something primal inside me recognized that I was surrounded by predators.

Completely.
