Review: Wished Away by S.P. Cervantes

Wished Away
Author: S. P. Cervantes
Release Date: August 5th, 2014

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Wordsmith Publicity.

Summary:

Imagine that you were married to the love of your life and had a happy family. Now imagine everything was destroyed in an instant, making you question who you are and how you can possibly go on once the one person you truly love is gone.

It is a rare thing to find your soul mate, but Jess found true love in Dave when they were only teenagers. They’ve built a happy life together in a small shore town, becoming pillars of the community and making everyone around them envious of the perfect life they have built together. Their love is something that seems like it can only exist in a fairy tale. But what happens when the fairy tale is broken?

Jess has always been the life of the party, and Dave was always there to reel her in and keep her safe. But one night, while on duty as the town Sheriff, the unimaginable happens, altering the directions of their lives forever.

Jess is now forced to dig deep in her soul and find herself again. When love tries to chip away at her frozen over heart, she struggles to fight the guilt of moving on while keeping the memory of her perfect love alive.

This is a story about finding love, having it all taken away, and discovering that moving on doesn’t mean forgetting the past.

Review:

I’m absolutely speechless. I loved this book. It made me laugh and it made me cry. It made me cry more times than I liked to admit. It was such a beautifully written story and I’m glad that I was given the opportunity to read it. I have not had the chance to read the first book in this series, Dust to Dust, but this book can be read as a standalone.

This story is about Jess and Dave and how their fairy tale plays out. The two of them have the perfect fairy tale life. Everything is perfect. You couldn’t take anything away from either of them. Its not often people find their soul mate, but when they do you know its forever. However, in just moments that beautiful fairy tale ending is taken away. Everything is ripped to shreds. Jess is left to pick up the pieces of her life without her soul mate.

Jess was always the life of the party. You could help being happy around her. When the ground is broken in front of her, she doesn’t know how she is going to pick up the pieces. She knows she has to hold her together for the people around her. She goes through so many emotions. She faces grief, sadness, and pain. As she continues going through the motions of each day, she finds someone that just might be able to pick up those shattered pieces. She slowly starts rebuilding her heart. She starts to see the 'rainbows and butterflies' again. She starts to realize that the world may crumble around you, but it can be rebuilt.

Gage, who has had his heart ripped out because of an unfortunate event knows what Jess is going through. When there world collided that faithful night that Dave was ripped away from her, he truly knew how she was feeling. He starts to hang out with Jess and her friends and slowly starts to bring the light back into Jess's eyes. He slowly starts to show Jess that there is a chance at happiness even though that black cloud has settled over her head. He doesn't let Jess push him away. He keeps showing her that you can achieve happiness even when you never thought you could again.

With this story, you have to truly read it for yourself. Its not meant to be ‘read’ through a review. This book put me through so many emotions and I had to put it down a few times to regroup myself. There is so much passion in this writing that you can instantly be drawn into the book and you will not want to back away. Great job at sucking me in, S.P. Cervantes!
