Rules of Protection
Author: Alison Bliss
Publish Date: August 26th, 2014

Summary:

It's rule breaker Emily Foster's birthday, and like everyone at The Jungle Room, she just wants to get some action. Unfortunately, she stumbles on the wrong kind, witnessing a mob hit. To protect her, she's entered into the Witness Protection Program with by-the-book Special Agent Jake Ward as her chaperone.

When the location of their safe house is compromised, Jake stashes Emily deep in the Texas backwoods. The city-girl might be safe from the Mafia, but she has to contend with a psychotic rooster, a narcoleptic dog, crazy cowboys, and the danger of losing her heart to the one man she can't have.

Jake's as hot as he is infuriating, and she can't help but push all his buttons to loosen him up. Their mutual, sizzling sexual attraction poses a dilemma: Jake's determined to keep her safe and out of the wrong hands; she's determined to get into the right ones-his.

Review:

I just had the pleasure of reading, “Rules of Protection” by Alison Bliss. I have to say that I was so happy with this author’s Debut novel. I couldn’t stop laughing throughout the whole thing. There was just enough seriousness, laughter, romance, and sassiness to make the book awesome.

This book is perfect if you are looking for a romantic comedy that has just the right amount of suspense in it. You really won’t be disappointed when you pick it up. The onslaught of characters that she brings to life in this book makes you wish you have a sexy FBI agent looking after you all the time, a fun-loving, maybe a bit inappropriate ‘Cowboy’ backing you up, and new family members just there to listen.

Emily is a sassy, fun loving, pain in the ass. She witnesses something that everyone hopes they never would stumble across and her life becomes crazy in the matter of minutes. She continues to go through a hurricane of emotions between hating her now body guard Jake Ward, loving him and every inch of his body, scared out of her mind because she isn’t in control of her life anymore, and just pissed off in general. She is a great character even though she can be a bit arrogant and ungrateful. When she slowly starts opening up to Jake, there is that little nagging feeling that he doesn’t care about her the way she cares about him.

Jake is a sexy, protective FBI agent and I want to take him home with me. LOL!!! At first when I met him I was like ‘oh here we go, another hot guy well fall instantly in love with’, but when I found out he was a law enforcement officer; I said “Where do I sign up?” Jake, may be over protective, but he takes his job seriously. He is sarcastic and antagonistic in a way. He tries to make Emily see he cares for her, but she just aggravates the hell out of him.

Jakes friends were a completely different story. They were so fun-loving that I want to just go to a bar with them. They added so much humor to the story. They really gave a lot to story. They showed that Jake had another side. We can’t forget Jake's family. They were definitely the people that I would want there by my side if shit hit the fan.

Without giving much more away, you should really read this book. Will all their hard work pay off? Will the two finally realize their feelings for one another? You'll have to read this book to find out. I seriously could not put it down. I wanted to keep reading. I cannot wait for the second book in the series.
