Review: On The Rocks (Mixology #2) by Alyssa Rose Ivy

On The Rocks (Mixology #2)

** I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!!**

Summary:

Love is best served on the rocks.

My roommates look really good naked. At least one of them does. I’m sure the other one does too, but I haven’t seen him without his pants on. Living with two guys wasn't something I’d ever considered, but the opportunity fell in my lap, and I’d have been crazy to turn it down.

College went by in a great big blur leaving me with less of a direction than I had going in. Add in a family that wanted nothing to do with me, and my post-college plans were less than clear. What’s a girl to do when she has nowhere else to turn? She moves to the Outer Banks and learns to bartend. After all, it was my horrible bartending skills that led me to my roommate’s bed and into his heart.

Review:

When I started reading, I was happily engrossed in the book. How Alyssa Rose Ivy made Carly, I really thought that there would have been more of a build up toward her relationship with Macon. Not every relationship goes from 0 – 60 in 5 – 10 pages.

Carly is funny sarcastic. She always seemed to have the right comeback. She didn’t seem immune to Macon’s charm, but she didn’t seem like the girl that was going to just fall head over heels for him so quickly. What Macon is able to do is get her to trust him. That made me love him more. Carly was in a bad place when she ended up at her brother’s house.

Colin seems like the great older brother anyone would want. He’s protective, but he also lets her make her own decisions. Maddy is a sweetheart. I love that she is a spunky bartender.  Brody, the other hot guy that Carly begins to live with proves that not all guys that are hot are egotistical. He’s sweet and his heart is in the right place. He seems more like the older brother type.

With stories revealed, new beginnings, and new roads to take this story is an awesome addition to the Mixology series. Overall, the book is definitely a good read. It’s quick and light and you’ll find yourself reading the whole book and not realizing it. I want to read Brody’s side of the story now. Even though he wasn’t in the book that much, he is one of my favorites.
